Step‑by‑Step guide to install Microsoft 365 on a Windows PC

🖥️ Step 1: Open the Microsoft 365 website

  1. Open any web browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox)
  2. Go to
    https://www.office.com
  3. Click Sign in

🔐 Step 2: Sign in to your account

  1. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address
  2. Click Next
  3. Enter your password
  4. Complete two‑factor authentication if prompted

⬇️ Step 3: Download Microsoft 365

  1. After signing in, you will see the Microsoft 365 home page
  2. Click Install (top‑right corner)
  3. Select Install Microsoft 365
  4. The installer file will download (usually named something like OfficeSetup.exe)

▶️ Step 4: Run the installer

  1. Open your Downloads folder
  2. Double‑click OfficeSetup.exe
  3. If Windows asks “Do you want to allow this app to make changes?”, click Yes

⏳ Step 5: Let Microsoft 365 install

  • The installation runs automatically
  • Apps included:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
    • Outlook
    • OneNote
    • Teams (work accounts)
  • This can take 5–15 minutes depending on your internet speed

✅ No product key is required when signed in


🎉 Step 6: Finish and open an app

  1. When installation completes, click Close
  2. Open the Start menu
  3. Search for Word (or any Office app)
  4. Open it and sign in again if prompted

Your apps are now activated.


Inside any Office app:

  1. Go to File → Account
  2. Confirm:
    • ✅ Account is activated
    • ✅ Updates are enabled
  3. Sign in to OneDrive to auto‑save files

You can now:

  • Create and edit documents offline or online
  • Save files to OneDrive
  • Use Outlook for email
